More than 70 locomotives of the series 50.35 of the DR were converted to oil main firing to increase the power output. This significantly facilitated the driver's operating conditions. During the conversion process the locomotives received the new designation series 50.50, also to make it easier to differentiate internally between the locomotives with coal firing and oil firing.
