I had never heard of MTB before buying this locomotive, but I am a fan of the Czech Railways (?eské dráhy [?D]) so I was willing to take a chance. I received the locomotive this week and have been very pleased with it. Since there is so little information about these locomotives, here are a few notes:
Exterior:
-paint quality is very good and looks like photo that I have of the prototype,
-one of the buffers was not on the train but was in the box and was easily put back in place (I might glue it),
-the buffers appear to be larger than scale but I did not measure them to confirm (all other dimensions look good visually),
-the box is paper with a foam insert and inclused a clear plastic window on the top so you can see the locomotive within,
-the unit doesn't have traction tires installed but an additional axle with traction tires is included in the box and can be installed by the user,
-seperate plastic hoses are included in the box, and
-the unit features headlights, taillights, and a light in the cab.
Interior:
-the shell comes off easily using typical methods of inserting a toothpick between shell and frame,
-the Next18 DCC plug is right on top and easy to reach,
-with the DCC decoder installed the tail lights are controlled by F1 and F2 (can be remapped to be controlled with headlights), and
-with the DCC decoder installed the cab lights are controlled with the headlights
