Electric locomotive class Re 460

This is the smoothest-running Roco electric lok that I own, and I have now had it for 9 years. Excellent detail but there is one major fault that may or may not have been corrected in recent runs of this model. The problem is the plastic universal-joint ball that is press fit onto the worm gear on the gear tower atop each power truck. This univeral ball has a tendency to slip on the worm gear, and if you run the lok too fast, it will not grip the worm gear and the lok will come to a standstill, yet the motor wil continue running. This is a REAL DESIGN FLAW in the transmission, and I am surprised that a company like Roco that makes such high-end models (and charges accordingly) would make the universal-joint ball as a seperate piece of the worm gear, and at that make it in plastic. They say the solution is to get replacements (which I have now done 2 times in the last 9 years). But that does not solve the problem. You have to clean the worm gear from all oil, and then use ACC-type superglue to glue the universal ball onto the stainless steel worm gear. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Make sure after the glue is dried to re-oil the gear.

I would solve this problem permanently by casting the worm gear's shaft with the universal ball as an integrated piece, also made of stainless steel. But I am not a product engineer at Roco, so.....)
